Let’s dive into it!

💰Meta analytics

In this section, we are collaborating with top analytics companies/projects to bring you data analytics and insights focusing on metaverse land investment. This week’s analytics data are once again from MetaCat, a platform that contains Metaverse Data Analytics and Content Navigation.

  • Metaverse month-ender update

We’ve seen struggles and victories this month and we cannot deny that the bear season is still around. By checking Tables 1 and 2 below which indicate a huge -97% drop in the Parcel Sales Amount from May 2022 to June 2022 from the top Virtual Lands in the Metaverse, and still the biggest sale coming from Otherside Meta, even with a total of -98% decrease from May to June of their total Parcel Sales.

Table 1. This data is as of May 2022, and this Parcel Sales Amount comes from the MetaCat official website.
Table 2. This data is as of June 2022, and this Parcel Sales Amount comes from the MetaCat official website.

We haven’t seen this total amount of Parcel Sales since October 2021 (based on table 3), just before Facebook announced its rebranding to Meta last year.

Table 3. This data is as of October 2021, and this Parcel Sales Amount comes from the MetaCat official website.

In this week’s latest news, the Tech Giants including Meta and Microsoft- are proposing an open Metaverse — where it is unable to be controlled by one company — which is the goal for all of us anyway. In this article, many of the founders and CEOs in the Metaverse are still skeptical, because we are aiming for a decentralized space, and these big companies are representing shareholders.

Are we going to see a real battle for the future of the Internet between these Tech Giants and Metaverse Founders really soon? How is this going to affect the market? Only time will tell.

📌 This Week’s Significant Land Updates

In this section, we’ll discuss some of the top Metaverse projects from MetaCat and the significant changes they made in the market. Let’s check out their updates, and what moves they made this week!

Voxels (CryptoVoxels)

Voxels, (formerly known as CryptoVoxels) is undeniably doing great for this month. We have noticed a more stable month for them, as from Table 4, they have a 2835% increase from May to June in their Monthly Parcel Minted and a 2.5% increase from May to June for the Total Number of Landlords at the end of each month. Totally great news during this bear market!

Table 4. This data is as of May and June 2022, and the Voxels’ Monthly Parcel Minted comes from the MetaCat official website.

One factor that we can look into is their transition from CryptoVoxels to Voxels, which is not just a name change, but a representation of a natural next step for CryptoVoxels, expanding their metaverse to a whole new audience — especially to people new to web 3.0.

After their announcement, they continued to build and host all around the Metaverse — from music performances, gallery exhibitions, and celebrations.

Somnium Space

Another one from the top virtual lands, Somnium Space — an open, social & persistent VR platform powered by blockchain, is still experiencing a downward trend. A huge decrease of 63% for just 10 days has occurred in their average parcel price for the month of June.

Table 6. This data is as of June 19, 2022, and Somnium Space’s Average Price comes from the MetaCat official website.
Table 7. This data is as of June 29, 2022, and Somnium Space’s Average Price comes from the MetaCat official website.

Although they have been doing continuous events, we can consider the bear market as a factor in this downward trend. As we discussed in our previous articles, investors are looking at projects which are continuously developing and building — which as of now, we are unable to see an update from The Somnium Space.

Decentraland

We are glad to see some progress from Decentraland! During the previous week, we’ve seen a downward trend with their average parcel price, but from Table 8 below, we can see that they had an increase of 55% in their separate lands and had a price for their estate lands, in just 10 days. And since the month is ending, we can see from Tables 9 and 10 that their Total Land Owners have also increased by a total of 2.9% from May to June.

Table 8. The data is as of June 19 and 29 2022, and Decentraland’s Average Parcel Price comes from the MetaCat official website.
Table 9. The data is as of May 2022, and Decentraland’s Total Number of Landlords At The End of Each Month comes from the MetaCat official website.
Table 10. The data is as of June 2022, and Decentraland’s Total Number of Landlords comes from the MetaCat official website.

One interesting fact that we can take into consideration in this improvement is the competition of The Next Top Metaverse Build with other top Metaverse Projects, continuous collaboration with projects, and of course, being seen in NFT NYC, like the advertisement of Samsung US being in Decentraland.

  • Conclusion

We are at the end of the month of June, and as per the MREI(Metaverse Real Estate Index) graph below, we have experienced a total of -64.308% decrease from last month’s MREI. We are still experiencing the effects of the bear season, but it is great to see movements from our top Virtual Lands. And although we are skeptical of the Tech Giants talking about the decentralized and open Metaverse, we are hoping for a discussion between them and the web3 natives.

We are looking forward to a brand new Metaverse after this season!

🧿Meta Spotlight:

This section is reserved for the projects, podcasts, events, or newsletter that is currently trending or worth looking into for everyone in the space!

Event of the Week

NFT.NYC is a conference that started in 2019, to connect leaders, influencers, developers, and fans of NFTs in NYC. It focuses on the companies and individuals using NFTs to advance the adoption of blockchain beyond its current use cases to a mainstream audience.

The event lasted from June 20 to 27 this year, and we’ve seen how big the event has been! Different big projects like The Sandbox Game, BAYC World of Women, and a lot more hosted their very own events for their community.

One big event that we’ve seen is the Sandbox Treasure and OVERtheReality, two leading Metaverse platforms, have partnered to announce a treasure hunt to kick off the NFT NYC event, with participants having the chance to win a large sum in the $SAND token. Check out this interview of Phil Rosen with The Sandbox’s US CEO, Mathieu Nouzareth, as he explains his vision for the Metaverse platform — which is not to replace reality, but to become a concentration of exciting brands and artists.

Also, how amazing is it that Madonna performed at the World of Women’s event?

Another great event that we’ve seen is, a showcasing event by Enjin Starter, where Metapoly co-hosted! The week full of events has been really fruitful, making it possible for visionary people coming together. Check out this article to see more.

With all of these events that happened during the NFT NYC, we can say that NFT.NYC is really the Super Bowl of NFTs.

Project Spotlight

We are giving our project spotlight today to Axie Infinity! Axie Infinity is a game universe filled with fascinating creatures, Axies, that players can collect as pets. Players aim to battle, breed, collect, raise, and build kingdoms for their Axies.

In March 2022, Axie Infinity has over 2.5M Axie holders and players on the real-time card battle system and application using their Axies. Then in October 2022, they released the Lunacia, the Axie homeland, which is divided into tokenized plots of land which act as homes and bases of operation for their Axies. Plots can be upgraded over time using a variety of resources and crafting ingredients that can be found when playing the game.

Based on their recent updates on their social media, their gameplays and land are still under improvement based on the market feedback. A lot of people are looking forward to another Axie Revolution!

Must Read Corner

For this week’s Must-Read Corner, we are featuring Jeran Miller’s Medium — an amazing writer that features virtual real estate and worlds. He also became one of our speakers during one of our MetaTalks on the topic, “Why Democratize Metaverse?”

For today, we are featuring his article “The Metaverse is not Meta’s”, discussing how Facebook rebranded to Meta, and just by changing their name to “Meta”, makes other people who spent years building “The Metaverse” insignificant.

In line with this is the recent announcement of Meta and other Tech Giants of a decentralized or open Metaverse, but as we said, most of the natives just don’t agree with them — because if they are really ready for what they are saying, they will reach out to them.

🎙Metapoly’s #MetaTalks Thursdays

#MetaTalks Banner

On last Thursday’s MetaTalks, we tackled a very important topic during this time- all about the Crypto Crash and its possible reasons.

We had an amazing set of guests to discuss this topic, Alex from Footprint_DeFi, Jana, co-host from Versefy Labs, Dalia from MetaZone.io, and Princess from ARKAYV.

“Crypto Crash: Possible Reasons” was an open topic for everyone in the space — whether you have just started, looking into investing, are reading, or are long-term investors. Together with our speakers and audience, we tackled what they are feeling about this current situation, to possible causes and worst-case scenarios. We even got to talk about the current inflation which can be connected to our current market situation!

But one thing we all agreed on is that this current market is also a huge opportunity for the builders, to continue their #buidling in this space.
